Affectionately called 'Paperwhites' for their bright white petals, Narcissus flowers are named after the beautiful youth who, according to Greek mythology, refused all offers of love. According to the myth, as punishment for his refusal, Narcissus was made to fall in love with his own image in a mountain pool. Unable to stop gazing at his reflection, he pined away and turned into the beautiful flower that bears his name.
